Anyone that knows me, knows that winter ain’t my fave. Let’s be honest. I’d rather be sitting my behind in Charleston among vibrant homes, wearing a maxi dress and some sandals. But, God brings us winter time every year because we need it. The flowers and trees need to rest- and so do we. As a business, it’s my time to plan my new year, plan shoots, choose a new senior model team and take a break from slam packed weeks full of gorgeous sessions. But winter isn’t all bad. It actually has some of my favorite things- white and neutral hues and the need for blankets. It’s actually a pretty amazing time of year for your senior session. Don’t let the cold ruin your dream session. I’m sharing with you some senior session inspiration for your cooler weather dream shoot.
This gal right here! How amazing is she? She’s literally my twin! Ashlynn joined me for this wintery senior session at Jordan Lake. I have never, ever met another girl with my exact name! Normally other Ashlynn’s spell their name a tad differently- so having the exact same name made us instant bffs. Ashlynn is rocking a gorgeous and cozy white sweater from Free People. The cozy off white blanket is thanks to my Target shopping addition. No shame in my shopping game. We headed out on a 60 degree day this past week and I LOVE everything about this session. The sunlight made a quick appearance for us, and we grabbed literally my favorite picture from this session. You can check out that warm and golden light below. I want to give you ladies a little senior session inspiration below, so here are my favorite pluses about shooting your session in the early months.
1. Lack of color
Now, you might be thinking what the heck? Color is everything! True. My life revolves around colors. But having a neutral slate with lots of beige and light tones can actually be a benefit. Want to wear that red dress you love so much? Guess what? You aren’t fighting with the super neon green of newly sprouted leaves or grass. Neutral and red are seriously the bomb .com
2. You aren’t sweating your makeup off
North Carolina summers can be brutal. You’ve just paid to have your hair and makeup done for your session, and now you’re worried about your face turning red and glistening with sweat. Well, winter sessions don’t have any of that! You might be a little cold but your makeup will stay put the whole shoot.
3. No frizz, no worries
Long hair, don’t care. No frizzies for the win! No humidity to worry about messing with your gorgeous hair. That’s a serious plus for us curly haired ladies.
So, if I haven’t convinced you yet, take a look at our session below! Ashlynn is seriously breathtaking.
