If you’re able to turn one dream into a reality, then you’ve made it. That’s exactly what I thought to myself as the day of this Tybee Island Seaside Elopement came to a close. I thought “This is it. I’ve made it.” I had done something I’d always wanted to do. My soul lives and breathes Lowcountry. There’s something so magical about Spanish moss hanging in the trees, sun shining through; the sound of oceans crashing on the sea shore. Nicolas Spark movies are often set on a little piece of Lowcountry heaven. Tybee Island is exactly that– heaven. The Tybee Light house has long been a favorite of mine and TJ’s. You can see its light shining from across the way on Hilton Head. I just knew I had to plan something so special with people even more romantic than the island itself. It had weighed on my heart to plan something just like this. I’m absolutely certain these photographs are better than that dream of mine.
I reached out to sweet Chaliss and Joshua about joining me for a stylized elopement shoot down near Savannah on the beach. They joined me for the day and the few hours we spent together were what dreams are made of. I can honestly say that there is no couple more in love or more romantic than these two. Their story is the sweetest and should probably be the next romantic Lowcountry inspired novel.
Chaliss met Joshua on campus at UNC Pembroke. He was the blonde, incredibly handsome foreign student — a surfer from Australia, and she was the stunning and sweet southern gal from North Carolina. She definitely played hard to get when he asked her on a date. She giggled as she told me that when he took her out to eat, she said she was only going with him because she was so hungry. Ha! The love story magic had started and these two have been inseparable since, even making the move to Savannah.
Hand in hand, they walked the beach around the light house. Wildflowers, crashing waves, soft breeze, beach hair, and a surfer hunk with his gorgeous dream Carolina girl. Oh, and baby pineapples. Like, honestly! Need I say more?
